THE COURSES

Golf Vila Sol: located at the foot of your hotel.

Internationally recognized, the Golf de Vila Sol, managed by the Pestana Group, is today one of the most popular courses in the Algarve. Designed by the famous architect Donald Steel, it opened its doors in 1991 and extends over 75 hectares of spectacular natural landscapes.

The estate is home to two exceptional courses:

• The Pestana Vila Sol Championship Course (27-hole championship course)
• The Pestana Vila Sol Academy Golf Course (school course for learning and training)

This complete and technical course appeals to amateurs and experienced golfers alike. It unfolds its harmonious fairways through a preserved environment, punctuated by umbrella pines, almond trees, fig trees, and vegetation typical of the Algarve.

Golf Gramacho: located approximately 40min from your hotel.

Gramacho Golf is a par 72, located near Carvoeiro, in the western Algarve. Architect Ronald Fream and champion Nick Price designed a relatively short but technical course, with undulating greens and fairways.

Having hosted the Portuguese Ladies Open on several occasions, the Pestana Gramacho golf course is renowned as an enjoyable and playable championship course for players of all levels.

Ronald and Nick have successfully integrated the course into the natural relief of the land. Indeed, stone walls, century-old trees, lakes and bunkers harmoniously sculpt the landscape. In addition to a real golfing challenge, this course will offer you a wonderful journey through the Algarve countryside.

Golf Old Course Villamoura: located approximately 10 minutes from your hotel

In the green heart of the Algarve, The Old Course Vilamoura embodies the essence of traditional golf. Nicknamed the Grande Dame of Portuguese courses, this masterpiece by Frank Pennink opened its doors in 1969 before being carefully renovated by Martin Hawtree in 1996. Respectfully preserved and subtly modernized, it remains today one of the essential jewels of golf European.

Drawn through a majestic pine forest, the 18 holes – Par 73 of the Old Course wind over hilly terrain where precision takes precedence over power. Each shot invites reflection: the fairways lined with umbrella pines, the impeccable Bentgrass greens, and the natural undulations of the terrain offer a challenge that is as technical as it is captivating. The famous hole no. 4, a signature par 3 overlooking a body of water, remains in the memory of all those who have faced it.

Golf Quinta do Logo – South Course: located approximately 25 minutes from your hotel (optional)

The South course is the true jewel of Quinta do Lago. Designed in 1974 by William Mitchell, it introduced American standard greens, teeing areas and bunkers to the Algarve. Very quickly, this course acquired a prestigious reputation and became a must-see on the European circuit. This 18-hole course, par 72 and 6,500 meters long, is one of the favorites of professionals on the European circuit. It extends in the heart of lush nature, between umbrella pines, lakes and wild flowers, with a breathtaking view of the Ria Formosa natural park.

The South course has hosted the Portuguese Open eight times, including the famous victory of Colin Montgomerie in 1989. With an exceptional score of 24 strokes under Par, he won the event by 11 strokes and established a world record by finishing at 63.

Despite its status as a championship course, it remains accessible to amateurs.

While holes 8, 15 and 18 present real challenges for low-handicap players, the varying difficulty of the course tests all levels of play. Accuracy of tee shots is essential to hitting the fairways, especially as the course features a variety of doglegs and obstacles strategically placed to increase the challenge. The first nine holes, which wind through the park, favor draw players, while the last nine, which runs along the lake, are more suited to fade players.
