Royal Dornoch, established in 1877, has been a royal course for over 100 years, having received the patronage of King Edward VII in 1906. However, golf has been played there since 1616, according to archives, making it one of the oldest courses in the world.

The course & its setting
This renowned links is included in the top 20 of the best golf courses in the world. Situated in a magnificent and isolated setting, it offers breathtaking sea views, and from April to July, flowering gorse embellishes the landscape with a golden coat.
In 1886, Old Tom Morris expanded the course from 9 to 18 holes and introduced the famous fast, elevated domed greens, still in use today. The course was then remodeled by George Duncan in the late 1940s.

Route & Infrastructure
Born in Dornoch, Donald Ross, considered the Michelangelo of golf, was the first pro and greenkeeper at Royal Dornoch. He is the author of legendary courses such as Pinehurst 2, Seminole, Oak Hill and Oakland Hills, and regularly returned to the club.
Considered as the flag-bearer of his region and popular with many celebrities, this course is a “Must” to add to your golfing trip. The charming village of Dornoch is also worth a visit.
