The route in detail
Founded in 1973, the club developed gradually after the donation of land by the local municipality. The course underwent a significant transformation in 1998, when it was completely redesigned by golf architect Hannes Þorsteinsson to become a 9-hole course. It then continued its development until reaching its current status as an 18-hole course in 2007, today being one of the recognized golf courses in West Iceland.
The layout of Hamarsvöllur is distinguished by a relatively narrow and strategic course, where players must deal with dense vegetation, numerous trees and several water hazards which increase the difficulty of the game. Each hole has its own character and offers varied challenges, making the course both accessible to beginners and interesting for more experienced golfers.

A unique environment
Beyond its sporting aspect, the course is also renowned for its natural setting. The fairways blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape and offer magnificent panoramas of the mountains and the Icelandic coastline. Often considered one of the most picturesque courses in the country, it combines preserved nature and quality infrastructure.
