The journey & its history
The club was founded on May 14, 1981, after Jóhann Möller built four holes near his summer home in Staðarhverfi, encouraging local residents to establish a local golf club. This small initial course gradually evolved and grew over the years to accommodate more players.
The current course, named Húsatóftavöllur, was expanded to become an 18 hole from 2009, according to plans by the Icelandic architect Hannes Þorsteinsson. The full court was officially inaugurated on July 28, 2012 during an opening tournament.

Setting & Location
The course is distinguished by a very contrasting natural environment. Five holes run directly along the coast, while thirteen others cross the lava fields located north of the main road. The route begins towards the volcanic formations before returning towards the sea on the last holes, offering spectacular views of the Atlantic and the volcanic landscapes of the region.
Today, Grindavík Golf Club offers a unique playing experience in one of Iceland's most impressive geological environments. Located near the tectonic plate boundary and surrounded by landscapes shaped by volcanic activity, the course offers a remarkable natural setting that combines lava, coastline and wilderness.
