The course & its setting
Created in 1936 by the famous architect Mackenzie Ross, this nine-hole course was the very first on the island of São Miguel. In 1992, architects Bob Cameron and Chris Powell brilliantly redeveloped and extended the course to 18 holes, while scrupulously respecting the original spirit and style. Today, it is impossible to differentiate the old holes from the new, thus offering a harmonious and authentic continuity.
The course is dotted with majestic Japanese cedars and features complex greens that demand finesse and precision. Its natural design makes it a stimulating challenge, suitable for players of all levels.

Setting & Location
Located on a plateau overlooking the Furnas valley, close to the famous thermal springs and the Terra Nostra garden, the course benefits from a peaceful and inspiring environment. The nearby Furnas Lagoon completes this idyllic setting.
Furnas Golf Course is much more than just a course: it is an immersion in the history, nature and culture of São Miguel, for an unforgettable golf experience.
