A rich history in the heart of Royal Deeside
Founded in 1883, Aboyne Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Royal Deeside. It was moved to its current location in 1905, first as a 9-hole course, expanded to 18 holes in 1908, then improved in 1913 with a landmark match between Harry Vardon and Ted Ray.

The route in detail
The course was modernized in the 1990s with new holes and trees which today structure the course.
Among its famous visitors are Prime Minister Asquith (1912) and the Duke of Windsor (1990s) 1930), both from the nearby Balmoral Castle.

Route & Infrastructure
The course is often described as divided into two styles: a park-style outward course with tree-lined fairways, and a more demanding return on heathland. Water and trees are present on several holes, notably around Loch d'Aboyne.
With a length of over 6,561m and six par 3s, the course begins and ends in an unusual way with two par 3s over 246m,offering a challenge from the start to the last shot.
